Make Your Own Rich Hand/Body Oil and Body Scrub June 15, 2009

This makes a lovely gift!

All you need for the Body Scrub is:

* brown sugar

* a carrier oil eg avocado oil (I used this), almond, coconut etc.

* your choice of essential oils – I used geranium, lemon and franckincense

What to do:

* place sugar in the container of your choice

* mix all the following ingredients together in a bowl

* 4 tsp avo oil

* 2 tsp evening primrose oil

* 2 tsp vitamin E oil

* 5 drops lemon essential oil

* 5 drops geranium essential oil

* 5 drops franckincense

* pour over sugar and mix well – its best to keep turning the jar

For the Rich Hand/Body Oil, just mix all the oils together and place in a small plastic bottle or container of your choice.

Experiment in the Kitchen June 3, 2009

I have done this before with the kids but thought I would do it again. As soon as they saw what I was busy getting ready, they remembered about “sink” , “float” and “disappear” ie “dissolve”

What did we do?

I filled a couple of plastic containers with water and then found things around the house that will dissolve in water/not dissolve, sink and float. So, I used salt, flour, oil, sponges and a couple of small stones. You can use anything you think of or want to experiment with (sugar, sand, shaving cream, toothpaste, paint, cornflour – add enough and you’ll have gloop).

They took turns to choose which “item” they wanted to experiment with and add to the water. The surprise on their faces is just priceless! It was a relatively quick exercise to do with them, but they just wanted to do it over and over and over.

Kids and water will always go together – they just love it!

I gave them the strainer to play with in the pool and the awe, especially little Zac, it was almost hillirous! The next day they went to the pool, Christian run to the cupboard and got the strainer himself!

I put all their sea creatures in the pool, gave them their fishing nets – and they went fishing!
