Lisa's family adventures

Lisa’s Kits September 23, 2011

This has been my new venture since we came back from the UK. I absolutely love it, its my passion – CRAFTS!

My story: Shortly after arriving in SA, I contacted Ellen from The Clay Shack (at The Pink Fig, Heatherbank Road) and shared with her what I wanted to do and some of my ideas. Ellen was very open to listen to me and has given me an opportunity to be creative and sell my products. Its wonderful working with her and I am grateful for this opportunity.

It started off with paper kits. So basically it would be a cardboard cut out (eg butterfly, car, teddy bear etc), with various goodies to “spoeg n plak” with, in a kit form. I also did some beading (ready made) and kits. Then came the mosaics. I always thought I never liked mosaics but now I have a very different view. Given that it is not everyones cuppa tea, I love it because no matter what you do, its a masterpiece! The kids love it too, they have little projects to work on. They started off doing coasters, which they would finish in one sitting, now they are doing slightly bigger substrates and still loving it.

I also do mobile parties – YOUR TIME – YOUR PLACE. Any craft available in the shop, I can come do at your venue choice. I often combine pottery painting and mosaics. This gives the adults/children an option – either paint some pottery or choose a mosaic kit. I can do any shape/cut out of your choice. Min people needed for a mobile party is 8.

Some crafts available at the shop – and mobile is:

  • mosaics (cupcakes, flowers, butterflies, rocket, dinosaur, boat, car, hearts, crosses – any shape/cutout of your choice)
  • pottery painting
  • sand art
  • fabric painting (pencil bags, aprons, Christmas socks, drawstring bags)
  • dry brush painting

Kids are naturally creative and inspiring, and at the same time developing fine motor skills!
